Job Overview
The Institutional Research Analyst is a key member of the University's Office of Assessment and Decision Support (OADS), engaging in widely varying data analytic work to support executives, senior leadership, administrators, and faculty in obtaining and understanding the institutional information needed for decision making. The analyst is also responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of reports for a wide variety of internal and external requirements, including federal, state/district, accreditation, association, and guidebooks (e.g., US News and World Report) reporting. In all work, the analyst combines strong technical skills for data analysis, reporting and visualization with knowledge of the university context and data to respond to requests with deliverables that relay critical information and insights clearly and accurately.
As part of the OADS team and with a service-oriented focus, the analyst works closely with stakeholders including executive leadership, regularly communicating data analyses results in an impactful manner and supporting accurate and appropriate interpretation. The analyst is a sought-after collaborator both within and outside of the office, with a reputation for effectively balancing multiple priorities, meeting or exceeding established timelines, and bringing a positive attitude, curiosity and relentless attention to detail to their work.
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Data Analytics, the Institutional Research Analyst functions as an active collaborator on the OADS team. As part of the OADS team, the analyst participates in regular and ad hoc office meetings as a positive contributor who communicates needs and timelines clearly, demonstrates a willingness to help teammates, and contributes to a supportive and safe work environment. The position works closely with the Assistant Director of Institutional Research, to ensure timely and high-quality reporting as part of the overall institutional research portfolio of OADS. Other interactions include:
Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with data stewards in key administrative areas such as University Information Services, Office of the University Registrar, Student Financial Services, Human Resources, Financial Affairs.
Serving as a knowledgeable and sought-after resource for teams/departments outside of OADS that have data, analysis and reporting needs.
Responds professionally and in timely manner to requests for data/reporting from internal stakeholders.
Interfaces with external reporting agencies to ensure that University submissions are received in accordance with established standards and timelines.

Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or a related field with a focus on quantitative research methods, along with 5 years of experience in a data or business intelligence analyst role, preferably within higher education. A master's degree may be substituted for professional experience. Must have experience in data analyses (preferably using R/Python), with a strong working knowledge of data manipulation and statistical inference.
Technical Qualifications:
Demonstrated training in inferential statistics including point and interval estimation and hypothesis testing.
Must be proficient in using one or more programming languages for statistical analysis (R/Python strongly preferred; SAS, SPSS, Stata also acceptable).
Proficiency in one or more business intelligence and/or data visualization tools strongly preferred (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, Cognos, etc.).
Experience with enterprise applications such as Banner, Workday, Salesforce preferred.
Familiarity with relational database and proficiency in at least one data query language (e.g. SQL) is highly desirable.
Experience with RStudio, Tidyverse, Quarto, and Shiny development strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Excel and proficiency with office productivity apps such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365 required.
Familiarity with relational database design concepts and proficiency with SQL coding is highly desirable
Proficiency in data visualization using R or Python is required.
Familiarity with web design and with graphical user interface design concepts preferred.

Salary Range
The expected pay range for this position is $54,616 to $100,493 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs.
