About the Team Bucknell's Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA) team is a group of technology and research professionals who leverage their data and analytical skills and knowledge to build solutions which help to solve real-world problems for students, faculty, and staff across Bucknell University. The team's goal is to help build a culture that leverages data and analytics to drive more data informed decision-making culture, in a transparent fashion, and to provide better services to its students. This is done by providing data services, platforms, and techniques to our constituents to help them better leverage their own data and through efforts to help improve the overall data literacy across campus, including staff, faculty, and students.
About the Role The Data Solutions Analyst reports to the Chief Analytics Officer and is principally responsible for collaborating with campus partners to lead and execute Bucknell's Data Analytics strategy and supporting tools and technologies in support of the strategic plan. Additionally, the role provides leadership for staff responsible for design, configuration, integration, operations, and administration of the institution's Data Analytics platforms and solutions as well acting as one of the institution's primary advocates and evangelists for data analytics. The work of the position is wide-ranging and includes understanding of user's needs across the entire organizational hierarchy, strategy development, evangelizing analytics tools and methods, daily tactical execution, system monitoring, and planning for future expansion requirements.
The Data Solutions Analyst is expected to exhibit a high level of problem-solving ability and resourcefulness and an ability to work on complex systems and projects with only general direction and supervision required. The position regularly operates under deadlines and must be capable of handling periodically heavy workloads and multiple assignments. The position works collaboratively with fellow members of Library & Information Technology, campus and divisional leadership, and vendors to meet the ongoing needs of the University.
This position coordinates the Data Analytics Executive Committee which has representation of senior leaders from various divisions on campus and is responsible for spearheading campus data analytics efforts and ensuring that the work being done aligns with the strategic vision of the University.

Job Duties:
- Actively participate in the establishment and execution of the strategy and vision for information delivery and management in collaboration with campus leadership and other stakeholders, including the enterprise data lake and data warehouse, BI & data analytics tools, ML / AI, and data management. - In collaboration with campus partners, including the Registrar's Office, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Advancement and others, actively engage in promoting data informed decision culture and mindset. - Actively contribute to the OIRA team in designing, implementing, and administering the tools, technologies, and work requests in our data analytics solution portfolio. - Collaborate with architects, engineers, and analysts within Library & Information Technology to design, implement, and manage data analytics platforms and solutions supporting the Bucknell Strategic Plan. - Lead and/or participate as an active member of cross functional project teams designing, sourcing, developing, and implementing Data Analytics solutions to campus. - Contribute technically to Data Analytics initiatives and systems as needed, including metadata and data definitions, data quality, model design, report / dashboard design and development, Data Analytics tool assessment, selection, and implementation, system configuration and maintenance, and end user support. - Stay abreast of technology trends in the data & analytics area and identify new opportunities of technologies & solutions in partnership with others in L&IT and campus stakeholders. - Engage with campus constituents and the broader higher education data analytics community and relevant professional organizations & associations to advance the industry and Bucknell's adoption of new technologies and better practices. - Participate in establishing and maintaining relationships with product and services vendors in the data analytics space. - Participate in the investigation and adoption of new technologies to meet strategic institutional needs, including ML/AI. - Advocate for, implement, and manage best practices in support of Data Analytics initiatives. - Support and participate in our data literacy, data informed decision making, and data analytics initiatives.. - Comply with University computing and data security standards. - Maintain, respect, and protect the confidentiality of information held within or transferred across the University's computer and communication resources in any format. - Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and three (3) years of relevant work experience in development and support of data analytics and/or data science solutions and platforms; OR A minimum of 7 years combined relevant education and experience. - At least five (3) years experience with designing, implementing, and administering: Data Lakes and Data Warehouses, and One or more ETL or data warehouse automation solutions, and One or more enterprise reporting platforms (Cognos, Business Objects, Microstrategy, or similar), and One or more data visualization platforms (Tableau Server/Cloud, PowerBI, Qlik, or similar), and Relational and NoSQL database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and DocumentDB. - Demonstrable experience in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar) infrastructure. - Demonstrable development experience in one or more modern programming languages such as Python, R, Java or similar. - Demonstrated experience with at least one version control tool such as Git, CVS, SVN, or similar. - Experience engaging with executive leadership and contributing to and executing upon strategic initiatives. - Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization - Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and presentational skills. - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and demanding environment. - Proven ability to manage multiple complex assignments with sensitivity to deadlines, priorities and changing circumstances. - Demonstrated professional work ethic and positive problem-solving attitude and troubleshooting skills. - Be willing to respond to emergency situations as they arise outside of normal working hours and to flex schedule for planned outages and upgrades as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience in development and support of data analytics and/or data science solutions and platforms - Technical experience with Cognos and/or Tableau. - Experience with Cognos data modeling via Framework Manager. - Experience with data modeling, data visualization, and dashboard development with Tableau. - Experience developing star-schema and operational data models with the WhereScape RED data warehouse automation platform. - Experience with AI/ML technologies and solutions. - Familiarity with the academic and business processes of higher education and the interrelationships between departments, data, and systems.

This is a full-time, staff exempt, benefits-eligible position that may be eligible for hybrid work.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
Salary Range:
This is a staff exempt position with a hiring range of $65,680-82,100 (E10). The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
