The IT Analyst serves as the technical expert in developing and overseeing the implementation of custom solutions and processes to a technologically diverse instructional and research computing environment for the Public Health in the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. The incumbent is will work on a team that is responsible for technical direction and oversight of all aspects of computing including: LAN and WAN, network and data security, research and administrative support, instructional/research labs support, application development, virtual computing services, helpdesk operations, data storage and backups. Consults and works with the COHS strategic planning team on behalf of Public/Population Health and with other COHS units in coordination with the Health Sciences IT and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) teams in planning and engineering a broad-based COHS-IT structure. Recommends and interprets policies and procedures as it pertains to network, security, and compliance standards within the organization.

$81,900.00 - $150,500.00 (Annual Salary)
Required:
5-10 years of experience in an academic/educational setting or in a related field.
Experience working in a research environment collaborating with faculty and research teams in the design of computing laboratories and individual research projects.
Project Management experience as it relates to planning the IT infrastructure for new building projects and space renovations.
Experience working as the technical lead for computing laboratories in support of teaching and instruction.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions. Demonstrated experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Basic knowledge of how to apply technologies and systems to meet business needs.
Preferred:
General knowledge of other areas of IT. Thorough understanding of and experience with systems-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
