Academic & Enterprise Systems (AES), part of the Office of the Registrar, facilitates student success systems across campus, including the University Student Information System, Document Management Systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Student Success Platforms. In close coordination with the campus community, AES identifies and develops functionality within these systems to support student and academic success; develops and maintains data integration between systems; and maintains accuracy of student data on campus.
Reporting to the Associate Director for Solutions Development, The Banner Developer II develops, implements, and maintains solutions and interfaces between Banner and ancillary applications; provides support and maintenance of enterprise processes and systems; serves as a technical expert on projects; and works collaboratively with University stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to meet the University’s business and operational needs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of system and software development concepts, protocols, and standards; attention to detail; ability to balance system access and security; and creative problem solving and analytical skills.
Responsibilities include:
Provide technical expertise in developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise information systems and interface applications
Support the development and technical functionality of WCU’s academic and enterprise applications, including Ellucian's Banner
Develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain data integrations between Banner and third-party applications
Ensure system integrity by monitoring data flow, creating system logs and actively addressing errors
Coordinate and apply upgrades/patches to information systems
Work with functional users to plan, coordinate and conduct system and application testing
Monitor operational performance and troubleshoot system problems
Ensure organizational efficiencies by following standard processes, development standards/approaches, and ensuring proper documentation
Provide support for escalation of technical issues reported by the CASS team
Collaborate with Business Analysts to develop or enhance current business processes to leverage information systems for increased functionality
Maintain professional development to stay current in new technological and business developments, products, and processes
Develop technical specifications for systems or interfaces and coordinate programming-based needs and/or modifications
Document implementation decisions, developed workflows, and configurations
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field
Two (2) years of functional and technical experience in application and software development
Experience working in higher education implementing and supporting student applications
Proficiency with relational databases
Proficiency with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Pro*C
Proficiency with server-side languages such as Java, JavaScript, PHP and run time environments like JVM
Experience with APIs, JSON and API related tools
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with higher education platforms such as Ellucian Banner 9, Degree Works, Experience, Ethos Platform and BEP
Experience with cloud services and platforms such as AWS, Azure AD, Google Cloud, Ellucian Cloud
Experience with industry standard project management and CI/CD
Experience with data governance
Experience with data warehousing
Special Instructions
This position allows for some remote work.
The salary range is between $80,086 and $91,526.
