The Marketing Department at UMBC carries out functions related to
strategic enrollment marketing, brand awareness, digital strategy, and
creative services. UMBC Marketing works in partnership with
undergraduate and graduate admissions as well as departments across
campus to promote the UMBC experience and attract students.
Position Overview:
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Division of University Communications and Marketing is seeking candidates for a Project Manager position. The Project Manager reports to the Director of Creative Services and serves as a liaison between partners across the University—in particular, those partners focused on student recruitment—and the marketing and creative services team, and is responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on message, on time, and on budget in a way that supports enrollment. The Project Manager will also be responsible for providing consultation on requests for design and production submitted to the studio outside of projects planned in partnership with the marketing team and ensuring the success of the projects.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the following:
Provide consultation and manage the discovery process for all requests for design and production submitted to the studio.
Manage and develop project blueprints in the UCM work management tool (WMT). Responsible for onboarding new users to WMT, developing and maintaining documentation for system usage and staying up to date with system enhancements or changes.
Collect pertinent production information, and build and manage detailed project plans and monitor project timeline based on the standard marketing and creative services work processes. Contribute to developing work processes.
Collaborate on creative or project brief development with members of the marketing and creative services teams.
Set and monitor production schedules for the projects submitted to creative services.
Triage all requests submitted to creative services through the project management tool/form and work with the Director to ensure they are funneled to the appropriate designer, department, or UCM staff member.
Ensure that projects are moving along on time and on budget, bringing a sense of urgency to the work and ensuring that project participants have what they need to complete their parts of the work.
Proofread all copy for accuracy, clarity, and University style.
Work with the design team to create strategy for templates and user needs in the division’s asset management tool.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Graphic Design or a related field
Two years of project management experience including experience with project management tools, methodologies or software
Detail-oriented and highly organized
The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while adhering to deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Four years of project management experience including experience with project management tools, methodologies or software
Project management certification
Experience working within a marketing or creative services department
Proficiency in WordPress, Google Drive tools, PhotoShop, and Acrobat Pro preferred
