Position Summary:

Under general supervision in the School of Education's Business Office, the research administrator is responsible for the financial and administrative management of extramural funds such as federal and private contracts & grants including training grants as well as private gifts, core and set-up funds which support various research and programs within the School of Education. The incumbent must have a strong background in policy interpretation/analysis and problem-solving skills that will involve interacting with sponsors, faculty, staff, and students. The position receives assignments on a project basis which will require them to independently analyze problems, gather data and information, and recommend solutions. The incumbent will manage various accounts and this responsibility includes fiscal solvency for assigned accounts, financial compliance to campus and sponsor policy, monthly reconciliation, PI reporting projections, review and analysis of expenditures and financial reporting to sponsoring agencies.

Required:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines. Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc. Ability to manage a high volume of transactions. Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting. Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports. Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus. Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles. Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques. Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsors guidelines. Experience with the Kuali Financial and UCPath electronic system for the processing of financial transactions. t. Intermediate to advanced level of skill with computer software, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
