Job Overview
The Survey Research Analyst, a key member of Georgetown's Office of Assessment and Decision Support (OADS), is focused on gathering and utilizing survey data to support executives, senior leadership, administrators, and faculty in understanding the experiences, behaviors, attitudes and beliefs of key internal and external constituencies so as to support decision making.
They further serve as a key resource to the university in the development, administration and analysis of surveys, regularly consulting with students, faculty and staff who are engaged in survey research. In all work, they combine strong technical skills in survey research methods, data analysis, reporting and visualization with knowledge of the university context to gather and relay critical information and insights from survey data clearly and accurately.
As part of the OADS team and with a service-oriented focus, the Survey Research Analyst works closely with stakeholders including executive leadership, regularly communicating survey findings in an impactful manner and supporting accurate and appropriate interpretation. They are a sought-after collaborator both within and outside of the office, with a reputation for effectively balancing multiple priorities, meeting or exceeding established timelines, and bringing a positive attitude, curiosity and relentless attention to detail to their work.
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Data Analytics, the Survey Research Analyst functions as an active collaborator on the OADS team. As part of the office team, they participate in regular and ad hoc office meetings as a positive contributor who communicates needs and timelines clearly, demonstrates a willingness to help teammates, and contributes to a supportive and safe work environment. Other interactions include:
Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders across the university (faculty, staff and students) who work with OADS to develop, administer and analyze surveys
Serving as a key member of the Survey Coordinating Group, tasked with oversight of university survey activity as outlined in policies and procedures
Working with executive, administrative, and faculty leaders to utilize survey research in understanding key questions and supporting decision making
Communicating in a professional and timely manner with survey respondents who raise questions or concerns about participation in or results of surveys administered by OADS
Collaborating with the university's Institutional Review Board to attend to Human Subjects Protections in survey research
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a social science field (sociology, psychology or a degree with a focus on survey research methods - preference for Master's degree in survey research methodology or a related social science field may substitute for direct experience (shown next)
5 years of direct professional experience with the development, administration, and analysis of surveys
Formal training and experience in statistical analysis
Proficiency with using one or more common statistical packages for code/syntax-based analysis - preference for R - SAS, SPSS, Stata also acceptable
Demonstrable training in - and proficiency with - common statistical techniques - such as linear regression, logistic regression, analysis of variance required; experience with advanced methods such as dimension reduction and/or structural equation modeling preferred
Demonstrated training in- and experience with - survey instrument development and best practices for survey research
Proficiency with office productivity apps such as Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office 365
Advanced proficiency with Excel
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet established deadlines
Attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work efficiently; adept at quickly learning and effectively using new tools and techniques
Ability to seek help from and provide help to others when needed
Ability to make positive contributions to team success: to provide and receive constructive feedback, to follow established team practices/guidelines for workflows, documentation and deliverables, and to actively participate in fostering a positive, supportive work environment
Preferred qualifications
Experience with one or more qualitative research methods - SurveyMonkey, QuestionPro or similar platforms
Proficiency in one or more data visualization tools - e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.
Advanced proficiency in using web-based tools for survey administration and reporting - preference for Qualtrics
Experience with RStudio, Tidyverse, Quarto, and Shiny development
