Based in the Washington, D.C. office, the Recruiting and Professional Development Coordinator will provide hands-on coordination and support for all aspects of on-campus recruiting, associate/of counsel and clerk hiring, and associate/of counsel and clerk onboarding, integration, and development. This position is an integral part of the Washington, D.C. Recruiting and Professional Development teams, which partner with the Chief Recruiting Officer and Chief Professional Development Officer in all phases of recruiting and professional development efforts. The role focuses more on the hiring, onboarding, and integration of new joiners and current attorneys versus summer program and seasonal student engagement.
The Recruiting and Professional Development Coordinator will report directly to the Washington, D.C. Recruiting Director and the Washington, D.C. Professional Development Manager.
Responsibilities include:
Recruiting:
Collaborating with the Washington, D.C. Recruiting team in the planning and execution of the office’s overall recruitment efforts (includes associate/of counsel and clerk recruiting, as well as limited summer program).
Coordinating essential pieces of on-campus recruitment, particularly around pre-OCI and OCI preparation/logistics.Includes scheduling screening and callback interviews (virtual or in-person),team communications, offer tracking and correspondence, planning/attending offer receptions/events, reporting, and other elements as needed.
Acting as a liaison to prospective candidates and Gibson Dunn attorneys and staff to ensure a smooth hiring process and high level of service.
Attention to online application portal, applicant review, tracking, and calendaring during high volume times of year.
Assisting with associate/of counsel and clerk application review and tracking, interview scheduling, and post-interview processes.
Working together with key personnel in Human Resources, Accounting, Diversity, and the Firm-wide Legal Recruiting Department.
Providing additional support, where needed, in summer program preparation and execution.
Attending monthly meetings/events through the local recruiting professionals’ association (WALRAA).
Attend the firm’s annual Hiring Committee Spring Meeting.
Professional Development:
Acting as a liaison between Recruiting and Professional Development to track incoming new and lateral associates and to ensure a smooth integration process.
Coordinating associate events and programs, including to brainstorm event design, send invitations, work with internal and external vendors and resources, arrange technology support, and track RSVP counts.
Working with local office personnel to plan and execute new and lateral associate orientation programming.
Providing on-site support at various events throughout the year.
Assisting with the office’s formal mentor program, including annual group refreshes and event planning.
Maintaining and updating departmental databases and records.
Serving as a general administrative resource to the Professional Development team.

Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
A minimum of two (2) years of law firm staff experience is required, with recruiting and/or professional development experience preferred.
Proficiency in the use of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Zoom is required.
Experience with applicant tracking programs (i.e. ViRecruit) is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $82-90k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
