Position Summary
The Gift and Data Analyst supports University Advancement (UA) at Washington University in St. Louis. The incumbent will support Gift Operations with a focus on data management, data integrity, data analysis and helping to address inquires and requests that support decision-making needs of UA leadership and other WashU partners. The Gift and Data Analyst reports to the Executive Director of Advancement Services and works closely with the Director of Advancement Services and Manager of Gift Operations.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Data Analysis and Reporting
Translate complex gift histories into understandable information.
Respond to routine and ad hoc requests for gift data.
Provide prompt response to inquiries from leadership including the Executive Vice Chancellor of University Advancement and the Associate Vice Chancellor, Advancement Services and Administration.
Collaborate with the Director of Advancement Services and Manager of Gift Operations to prepare analyses when necessary.
Support Executive Director in establishing, tracking, and reporting on OKRs for Advancement Services.
Contribute to the creation of reports, presentations, and dashboards.
Train staff in the correct use and interpretation of gift data as presented in CRM, standard reports, and dashboards.
Gift Operations
Develop thorough understanding of the multitude of gift sources.
Perform complex gift entry that includes SPA journals, employee payroll deduction donations and adjustments.
Perform routine gift entry during high-volume periods.
Serve as a back-up for the auditing and approval of gift batches.
Support receipting and annual tax letter processes.
Perform routine data reviews, i.e., deceased donors with pledges due, open estate commitments, etc.
Assist in the preparation of external reports and surveys.
Collaborate with University Advancement Systems to test new features and updates.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions Â
Overtime hours are required at various times of the year.
Normal office environment; alternate operations may require remote work.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Affinaquest and Salesforce.
Experience working in a nonprofit organization or higher education environment.
Knowledge of CASE and IRS guidelines on processing gifts, pledges, and intentions.
Proven experience in data analysis, interpretation, and generating actionable insights.
Proficiency in nonprofit CRM software and database management systems.
Familiarity with basic accounting principles and procedures.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with exceptional accuracy in a deadline-driven environment while managing competing priorities.
Outstanding attention to detail, independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
Effective verbal, written and customer service skills required to successfully conduct business with a diverse group of internal and external customers.
Application of excellent judgment, discretion, and sensitivity in handling high-profile and confidential information.
Aptitude to become a super-user of the University Advancement CRM.
Willingness to learn.
Willingness to be a team player.
Available to work occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends and additional hours.

Required Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree and two years of data analysis experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range
$57,300.00 - $97,700.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
