Eye surgeons, stem cell researchers, geneticists, infectious disease specialists and engineers are working on technologies and treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal disease and cataracts as well as a vaccine to prevent eye and genital herpes infections. These efforts have vaulted UC Irvine School of Medicine into the top echelons of U.S. institutions receiving National Institutes of Health grants for vision research. Your Role on the Team
Involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and / or evaluating Academic Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs, and procedures covering one or more of the following: staff and academic recruitment, appointment, and advancement; compensation and salary administration; faculty welfare programs; visa procurement; benefits; payroll; training and development. The candidate will apply professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies.
Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems.
Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
A minimum of 5 years of experience
Preferred:
Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.
Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management.
