Working in the Department of Plant Sciences under general supervision of the HR Supervisor and working closely with Department Chair/Vice Chairs and Dean's office Academic Personnel Analyst, serve as an academic personnel expert in the department. Provide analytical and administrative support for all actions pertaining to academic personnel matters.

Minimum Qualifications

Insert Here Experience performing the full range of academic personnel functions including policy interpretation in a unionized higher education setting; coordinating personnel appointments of academics (senate and non-senate faculty, RA unit) and knowledge of payroll matters.
Experience with academic advancement; recruitment, selection and retention; classification and compensation administration; and employee and labor relations of academic employees.
Experience working in a professional environment managing projects and multiple tasks including working with faculty or PIs, establishing good rapport to perform in a fast-paced environment, planning and coordinating assignments, adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity efficiency with strong political acumen and diplomacy in handling and responding to sensitive or difficult situations
Quantitative analytical skills to gather information, find, evaluate and analyze complex data from a wide variety of sources, prepare budgets, present statistical and financial information in appropriate and understandable formats for business planning and evaluation.
Critical thinking and applied problem-solving skills to research and analyze complex policy and/or problems related to academic personnel in an objective manner.
Ability to manage high volume of email and appropriate response time.
Communication, customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and others. Writing, editing, and proofreading skills to draft informational materials for clear, concise dissemination. Skills to edit copy for grammar, spelling, and punctuation with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Insert Here Experience with UC Davis personnel systems such as Recruit, MIV, APHID, UC OATS. Experience utilizing standard business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and standard email programs such as Outlook.
Knowledge and experience analyzing and interpreting UC policies and procedures relating to Academic Senate, Academic Federation, and Unit 18 personnel
Knowledge of and experience applying complex policy documents, labor agreements, governmental employment requirements and regulations (e.g. Worker's Comp, ADA, FMLA, Affirmative Action) and related material. Must maintain a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
Experience preparing and/or reviewing UC Davis academic advancement dossiers.
Knowledge of UC Path, Decision Support and Cognos
