Job Summary
Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) Alumni Affairs and Development is a dedicated team supporting Harvard?s advancement activity through front-line fundraising, alumni and volunteer engagement, technology, prospect management and research, business process, events, communications, and many other areas.

AA&D is comprised of the University Development Office (UDO), Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Development, AA&D Resources, the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA), and the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Reporting jointly to the Associate Vice President of University Development Office (UDO) and the Senior Executive Director of UDO, this full-time non-exempt position in UDO works with colleagues across the organization to advance University-wide fundraising. Time is divided roughly between supporting the two supervisors, whose work is distinct but related and interdependent.
Position Description
Support the Associate Vice President and the Senior Executive Director in the development and execution of engagement and solicitation strategies for a portfolio of top University donors and prospects by tracking progress of gift conversations and solicitation strategies; identifying follow-up steps and action items; keeping track of stewardship opportunities; assisting with content strategy, donor relations and engagement, efforts; drafting correspondence; , tracking and maintaining donor and solicitation information in University systems; and supporting meetings with donors, senior University leaders and faculty members.
Draft briefings for development appointments on behalf of the President, Provost, and other senior academic and administrative leaders. Includes monitoring donor activity within and outside of the University, assessing University ties and affiliations, analyzing past giving history, and researching philanthropy outside of the University.
Facilitate internal gift processes and support responses to donor inquiries by booking gifts and pledges, coordinating the development of gift histories, and following up on requests for terms and other gift related questions as needed.
Coordinate donor visits in support of fundraising efforts, including but not limited to: planning visit content and donor strategy, coordinating faculty outreach and donor correspondence, attending to meeting logistics, and ensuring follow up notes and next steps as related to donors are completed.
Support the AVP and SED in creatively leveraging available reporting tools, software, and data analysis to develop comprehensive fundraising strategies for individual donors and demonstrate impact. Manage routine data pulls and reporting and provide data analysis as needed.
Serve as a liaison to partners in research, operations, content strategy, and donor relations by communicating needs related to developing donor strategy and evaluating programmatic interests and financial capabilities of donors. Compile organizational profiles, backgrounds and one-pagers for the team as needed. Represent the UDO fundraising team professionally and positively.
Collaborate with School offices and Presidential and Provostial liaisons by reviewing invitation criteria and donors lists, organizing strategy discussions and relevant materials, and identifying means to improve communication or best practices to enhance and align donor experiences university-wide.
Support the work of the Associate Vice President to manage the UDO overall and the Senior Executive Director to manage the teams that drive front line fundraising activity in the UDO.
Facilitate internal communication within UDO and between UDO and other units, especially as it relates to the work of the AVP and SED.
Work independently and as part of a team, in an extremely dynamic, fast-paced work environment, juggling multiple and changing priorities and responding to the strategic needs of the UDO fundraising teams more broadly.

Basic Qualifications
2 years of related experience.
Solid computer skills in a PC and network environment, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
The ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours is required.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Excellent organizational skills required. Capable of managing multiple assignments from multiple sources; be efficient, organized, detail oriented, and able to meet project deadlines.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to comprehend and summarize detailed and complex research reports and press articles to create briefings.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment and possess a strong commitment to client service.
Strong interest in higher education and a working knowledge of national and global issues is required.
Must be professional, enthusiastic, collaborative, focused, motivated to learn and flexible to change, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and experience.
