OBJECTIVE: ALEC is seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized professional to join our trade association team. In this position, you will play a key role in managing the non-profit organization's finances, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciling bank and credit card statements. In this role, you will collaborate and communicate with employees and vendors to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. In addition to being the group benefits administrator, which includes health, dental, vision, short and long-term disabilities, life insurance, worker’s compensation, travel and accident plans, COBRA, flexible spending and HSA plans, and 401(k) retirement and RS pension plans.

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, journal entries, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets, and actual expenditures
Coordinate all audit activity, work with CPA to prepare monthly/annual reports and filings
Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep the CEO abreast of financial status
Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate
Engage with the board’s audit and finance committee around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery
Processes accounts payables/receivables, including maintaining vendor records (W-9 and 1099 reporting)
Reconciles all bank and credit card statements, expense reports
Manage organizational cash flow forecasting
Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines
Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, calculating, and inputting employee payroll data
Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies while processing payroll
Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity, and implement system upgrades and enhancements
Gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes
Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately
Generate payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions, and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll
Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information
Stay updated on payroll regulations, tax laws, and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices
Record and report all required Political Action Committee filings with the Louisiana Board of Ethics and Federal Election Committee
Execute and maintain all support services contracts, subscriptions, and insurance policies
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CEO, the responsibility for finance
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with accounting/bookkeeping experience; CPA and/or MBA preferred
Technology savvy with experience with Quickbooks Online required
Keen analytic, organization, recordkeeping, and problem-solving skills, which allow for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners
Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels, including finance and non-finance managers
