Reporting to the Senior Director of Regional Development for the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Regions, the Director is responsible for managing a prospect portfolio of approximately 100-150 major gift and planned giving prospects rated at $100,000 or higher. They travel at least five days per month and make a minimum of 100-125 visits annually with current and prospective donors who are undergraduate alumni, current and former parents, and friends with an annual goal of raising $2 million to $4 million or more.
The Director's core responsibility is to engage current and prospective donors - who primarily reside in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region - with a focus on Florida and potentially from select other regions. They identify and solicit new principal, major gift, and planned gift prospects; ensures strong pipeline development from discovery to solicitation to gift closing; and possibly collaborates with the appropriate constituent development unit or senior regional advancement officer.
In addition to the responsibilities related to portfolio work and market management, the Director co-leads a regional philanthropic council, focused on engaging and advancing the mission of the institution and Georgetown's capital campaign. Further, they directly supervise a development associate and are an internal partner in ongoing meaningful professional development strategies for the development associate and senior development associate cohort. These interactions are critical as the office seeks to engage and invest in the important work of talent retention and development of career growth.
