This position in the Development and Alumni Relations division will be part of the Development Information Systems team that supports one of the enterprise applications at Carleton College, Advancement. This position encompasses a full range of duties from analysis, requirements gathering and refinement, solution design, business workflow, change management, and ongoing production support. They will enjoy working closely with various departments, as well as Development Information Systems staff, to consult and implement a Slate CRM environment. There will be opportunity for modern coding, new tools and API development as a new Advancement initiative will launch in fall 2024. All aspects of the objective of the division and/or college must be considered when this person responds to provide correct and precise support in forms of data management and representation. This person will consult with appropriate staff to identify requirements, specifications, and process solutions that meet business and automated requirements.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Business Analyst Developer
Conduct interviews and facilitate workshops and focus groups to gather and analyze the need for new or enhanced functionality.
Interpret the needs of clients and translate into automated concepts and processes
Work with user departments and a broad range of Carleton staff members to understand and diagram processes and workflows.
Create user stories, use cases to support application development
Assist in creating documentation of user procedures and knowledge materials
Assists with interfaces between various enterprise applications.
Multi-tasking targeted areas simultaneously, meeting all milestones/deadlines as required.
Identify and document individual systems within the institutional framework
Able to work with administrators and team members at various levels to ensure the successful development, testing, and deployment of high-performance information systems.
Assist in troubleshooting problems in a variety of computing environments including client server, Windows, web and cloud-based applications.
Enhance and maintain data integrity through identification and procedures detecting data abnormalities.
Provide support for assigned software applications. Applications are a blend of on-premise and cloud deployments.
Report and form development as identified by department requests
Assist with system check and quality assurance validations
Provide backup support for the Development Systems Team
Provide support for requested campus events as allowed

Education/Experience/Skills:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree and two or more years of experience in information technology, preferably business or systems analysis or project management or programming and/or implementing and maintaining information technology systems
Or an Associate’s degree in computer science or computable field and six years’ full-time work experience in related area
Experience with the following: Microsoft Visio, PL/SQL, and Microsoft Office products, and third-party applications; i.e., Emma
Strong analytical skills, written and verbal communications skills, interpersonal skills; and ability to work as a member or leader of an integrated project team consisting of end-user and technical support staff.
Experience utilizing various modes of user interaction to gather requirements; one-on-one interviews, small groups, and large groups
Familiarity with custom development processes and vendor product implementation
Excellent relationship-building skills
Experience in the Higher Education
Ability to collaborate effectively in an environment committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Strong commitment to quality, timeliness, efficiency, and effectiveness
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of full-time progressive work experience with systems analysis, business process flow design, and modern coding
Knowledge of current visual interpretation principles, methods, and software
Excellent organization skills
Experience with the following: Advancement, events management applications, and communication applications.
Ability to diagram business processes using tools such as MS Visio
Experience with the specialized needs presented in a higher education environment
Comfortable with a blend of on-premise and cloud deployments
Excellent relationship-building skills
Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
