The basics of this position:
The Associate, Child and Family Development performs duties necessary to teach and care for infant through twelve-year-old children, provides support and constant communication with families, and serves as a model for college students, specifically in Child and Family Development.
What you'll do:
• Operate a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom using a constructivist curriculum and environment based on licensing regulations and accreditation standards • Supervise students, work study students, childcare attendants, therapists, and observers in the classroom in the absence of the Child and Family Development (CFD) Specialist • Welcome and invite college students to be a part of the Child Development Laboratory Center (CDLC) community • Model developmentally appropriate practice in the classroom and coach students during practicum time • Observe and record development for individual children and support the CFD Specialist in creating individual goals and curriculum • Maintain records for children's and classroom curriculum, and coordinate resources for children with special needs • Develop and maintain rapport and trust with families, and attend developmental, transition, and exit conferences as needed • Participate in educational parent meetings, CDLC Parent Advisory Council, STLCC, campus, and community events • Additional duties as assigned
Education, experience, and other requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of related full-time experience • Must clear Family Care Safety Registry and fingerprinting, complete Hepatitis A Immunization series • Must maintain current CPR, pediatric first aid, and medication administration training PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • Ability to move quickly up and down off the floor. • Ability to lift items overhead, bend, and stoop.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child and Family Development, or a related field with 1 year of full-time or 2 years of part-time experience in a licensed childcare center
