The Office of Informatics and Information Technology in the UW's School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is seeking a Software Developer to join our team. This group delivers applications and services that contribute direction to the mission of SMPH, benefiting medical students, faculty, and staff. This position is in the Administration and Education Application Development service line.
Our Software Engineers have an opportunity to practice full stack, full lifecycle application development. Work includes maintaining legacy applications as well as developing new applications. This position will work directly with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, develop, test, deploy, and support modern web applications. This person will be able to apply their technical specific knowledge and skills to develop applications to help make our systems efficient and innovative. Our software engineers and developers strive for continuous improvement, modernizing our tools and improving the user experience. We encourage collaboration and mutual support among developers and other technologists.
The person working in this position can be fully remote but there are opportunities for a hybrid work arrangement if desired.

Qualifications:
Required: - Experience working on a professional software development team using a modern programming language (e.g., PHP, Ruby, Javascript) - Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools and domains - Demonstrated experience using relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Oracle) and writing SQL queries - Demonstrated experience developing modern web user interfaces (e.g., Javascript, React, Angular, Web Components) - Demonstrated experience creating documentation and performing testing - Experience working with a variety of customers to identify requirements, verify solutions, and deliver and support solid and sustainable technical solutions - Clear and effective written and verbal communication
Preferred: - Experience developing applications using HR or financial data - Experience using development frameworks (e.g., CodeIgniter, Laravel, Symfony, Ruby) - Experience using an svn- or git-based version control system (e.g., GitLab, Github, Bitbucket) - Experience using continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies (CI/CD) - Experience developing against APIs (e.g., REST) - Experience working with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) - Experience with object-oriented, model-view-controller programming

Salary:
Minimum $75,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The starting salary for a Software Engineer/Developer II is $75,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
The starting salary for a Software Engineer/Developer III is $90,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
The starting salary for a Software Engineer/Developer IV is $96,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
