Position Summary Under general supervision, the Analyst will support the institution’s compliance andprivacy management functions. The Analyst is responsible for all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, protected health information (PHI) and personally identifiable information (PII) in compliance with federal and state laws and NJH’s information privacy practices. The Analyst stays current on and applies applicable state and federal privacy and compliance related law. Serves as the contact for privacy and compliance matters and is available resource to the institution.
Essential Duties
Under general supervision, the Privacy and Compliance Analyst is responsible for incident investigation and management. Investigate privacy incident and compliance reported events; develop recommendations regarding incidents and events. Conducts preliminary assessments of potential or actual privacy and compliance incidents on behalf of the Privacy and Compliance Program.
Conducts periodic risk assessments, prepares and summarizes assessment.
Participates in investigations, mitigation, sanctions and other corrective action with appropriate workforce members including Human Resources, Management and Information Systems and Technology.
Assists in coordinating with external agencies such as the Office of Civil Rights, other legal entities, organization officers, and internal departments on documentation requests and submissions, preparing for onsite audit visits and corrective action plan responses.
Responsible for privacy surveillance of electronic medical record systems using programs and software. Ensures privacy monitoring is performed effectively and timely; follows established procedures in accordance with data security standards; utilizes various systems to perform routine and complaint driven privacy surveillance; updates and maintains privacy files and spreadsheets.
Assists with the management of business associate agreements to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed.Assists with regulatory notifications within regulatory time frames when required.
Assists with policy development and revisions. Recommends applicable updates.
Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards, and monitors advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance.
Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of the departmental and institutional initiatives like data governance. Key contributor to the achievement of the Department goals and objectives, ensuring effective day-to-day operations.
May also assist with contract management need of the Department. Ensures all contracts comply with legal requirements and institutional policies. Conducts contract audits and compliance reviews to identify and mitigate risks.

Salary Range: $63,000 - $85,000

Work Experience: 2 years of experience in compliance, privacy, audit, health information management, legal support or senior/executive administrative support, privacy, audit and/or investigative capacity in a healthcare setting required.
Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Certification in Health Care Privacy and/or Compliance preferred (HCCA or IAPP).
