JHU Finance Program Director/Business Systems Analyst (4 Levels)
The Program Director/Business Systems Analyst roles encompass four distinct levels of expertise within the Johns Hopkins University: Business Systems Analyst I, Business Systems Analyst II, Senior Business Systems Analyst, and Program Director. Each level plays a critical role in Sightline?s success in implementing and optimizing our new ERP system. Successful candidates will be assigned to a specific level based on a combination of their interest and the amount of related experience and education.
General Position Summary:
The Finance Program Director/Business Systems Analyst team focuses on transforming and optimizing financial operations through the new ERP system. Analysts will work closely with finance stakeholders to understand financial processes for all critical subprocesses. By identifying and implementing process improvements and technical solutions, the team ensures accurate financial data management and reporting, enhances decision-making capabilities, and supports the organization's financial health and compliance with regulatory requirements.
As a valued member of the finance team, you will specialize in one or more of these crucial sub-processes: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Budget and Forecasting, Endowments, Fixed Assets and Project Accounting, General Ledger, Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Travel and Expense.
Business Systems Analyst Iwill serve as a business function and system expert for module(s) or sub-modules(s) of the new ERP System focusing on understanding and documenting basic Finance business processes. Working closely with internal stakeholders, the Business Systems Analyst I will utilize those requirements to identify appropriate technical solutions and any associated business process enhancements for the future state system. The position will also be responsible for contributing to associated testing and training activities including documentation and execution.
Business Systems Analyst II will include all of the responsibilities above but will expand to include the identification and documentation of requirements for moderately complex business processes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for project management for smaller sub-projects within the Finance functional area.
Senior Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for all of the above but will expand to include the identification and documentation of requirements for highly complex processes and moderately sized sub-projects within the Finance functional area. As a more experienced analyst, this position provides ongoing mentorship and guidance to those in the Business Systems Analyst I and II positions.
The Program Director will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a Finance functional team of analysts in support of one or more modules within the new ERP system. The position will lead a team of analysts to guarantee highly effective execution of core discovery, implementation, and testing activities for the Finance functional area including defining standards and processes to ensure conformity with overarching project requirements. The successful candidate will lead project management for the team and ensure alignment with the overall Project Sightline leadership and the broader project team for the Finance functional area.

Minimum Requirements
All levels require a bachelor?s degree. Business Systems Analyst II, Sr. Business Systems Analyst, and Program Director will require experience with varied interpersonal and technical skills, along with demonstrated skills in interacting with members from all organizational levels to diagnose problems, develop, and implement that could be process or technically oriented. The Program Director will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a functional team of analysts in support of one or more modules within the new ERP system.
Business Systems Analyst I
Requires 4 years of progressively responsible experience working in the Finance functional area or working in systems analysis.
Requires two years? experience as an ERP user.
Business Systems Analyst II
Requires six years of progressively responsible experience working in the Finance functional area or working in systems analysis.
Requires three years of experience as an ERP system user.
Sr. Business Systems Analyst
Requires eight years of progressively responsible experience working in the Finance functional area or working in systems analysis.
Requires four years of experience as an ERP system user.
Program Director
Requires ten years of progressively responsible experience working in the Finance functional area or working in systems analysis.
Requires six years of experience as an ERP system user and some experience leading projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a higher education, academic medical center, and/or health care setting.
Experience with a cloud-based ERP solution such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP.
Experience with scoping, requirements gathering/definition, documentation, testing, training, and support.
Lead position: Strategic leadership experience

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen and effectively synthesize information from subject matter experts; the ability to write and present clearly and concisely; and the ability to facilitate effective meetings and engage participants.
Ability to create highly effective business analysis and project management artifacts.
Ability to understand, analyze and document dependencies and impacts in a highly integrated system or within overlapping business processes.
Ability to effectively work with loosely defined or high-level requirements and schedules.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications, especially Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Ability to function effectively within a structured project management environment.
Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to newer analyst
Ability to lead, build, and develop highly collaborative cross-functional teams; ability to effectively supervise analyst with a range of experience.

This salary range does not include all components of the Sightline compensation program. This position may be eligible for a discretionary retention and performance bonus, based on individual performance and the project's performance, as determined by the Vice President, Financial and Administrative Systems, Sightline in their sole discretion. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary slightly from the salary range stated herein.
