What will you be doing in this role?
Under the general direction of the HID Audit Manager, the Coding Analyst works with the coding team, audit team and billing department in analyzing data related to the revenue cycle. The position performs advanced level analytical and administrative functions necessary to organize, maintain, analyze and appropriately assist in resolving data issues or concerns. May specialize in one or more of the advanced level analytical and business functions including but not limited to: general billing processes, general coding processes; quantitative and qualitative analysis of medical records data; trending of data within different systems, verification of data integrity, and report creation and dissemination, as appropriate. Additionally, the Coding Analyst will extract data from various sources then analyze results and create reports for internal/external teams. The successful applicant has the ability to work within a team of analysts and other associates to process information and analyze the data and present it.
Assesses the use of requested information and identifies data sources based on the need of the management team. Retrieves data from appropriate system(s).
Manipulates raw data into a workable or requested format for use in decision making. Produces accurate report that meets the need(s) of the end user.
Reviews data and resolves any data discrepancies before finalizing reports. Provides a probable reason for any demonstrated trends, or possible data discrepancies.
Performs research and accurately assigns meaning to data. Makes recommendations based on trended data for subsequent actions such as follow-up monitoring.
Prepares reports for middle level administrative groups within requested timeframes.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment in a positive and professional manner.
May assist with the training of new staff, volunteers and contract staff.
Supports performance improvement by attending meetings, assisting with process improvement, and other collaborative activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. An associate degree or college degree in a health service-related major or a related field preferred.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of acute, patient coding, data analyst, and healthcare revenue cycle experience required.
A minimum of 2 years of acute hospital coding experience preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of hospital billing experience preferred.
