Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The role of the Database administrator is to manage the Microsoft SQL Server Environment as well as function as part of the Identity and Access Management team at UNCW. This individual will also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the UNCW MSSQL and IAM environments are consistent with university goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining Institution wide systems. Additionally, they will need to work with other departments to assess and minimize impacts on outside systems.
The position duties include:Database Administration
Perform day-to-day aspects of MS SQL database administration.
Install and configure and maintain SQL Server 2022 and Azure SQL following Microsoft best practices, apply service packs, patches and security fixes.
Responsibilities include database design, installation, configuration, upgrades, security, managing users and access, performance monitoring and tuning, database availability, backup and recovery, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Reporting Administration
Administer and maintain the on-premises PowerBI Report Server, ensuring seamless integration with existing database solutions and facilitating effective data visualization and reporting for university stakeholders.
Identity Management Administrator
Configure and maintain aspects of IAM including troubleshooting sync and connectivity issues, attribute flows, provisioning, and projection rules.
Create and customize ETL processes to automate workflows for user and group provisioning to Active Directory.
Server Administration
Install configure and maintain Windows Server operating systems.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system and server errors.
Implement security best practices.
Perform regular system updates and patches.
Experience working in Cloud Environments such as Azure and OCI
