As a Controls Programmer, you will:
Develop, write, build, and maintain the control programs and graphics for the University's building automation systems (BAS).
Test, troubleshoot, and modify BAS program operations to meet project objectives.
Program and test Direct Digital Control sequences.
Integrate building equipment using building automation system software.
Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential concerns, and develop contingency plans.
Ensure compliance with codes, design, and project quality delivery.
Collaborate with internal and external parties such as Energy Engineers, Building Commissioners, and Control Technicians.
Develop and apply tools that are applicable to the complexity of the projects/tasks.
Participate in progress meetings with project teams.
Investigate existing controls and improve graphics for programming to create consistency.
Commission controls systems for new projects.
Operate the Control System and participate in the on-call rotation.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in computer programming, HVAC controls, or other related fields of study. Equivalent education/ experience considered for programming certifications, demonstrated skills in programming, and/or previous work experience programming HVAC controls.
No additional work experience is required that does not fall under degree/training requirements.
Knowledge of procedural and/or object-oriented programming language with a good understanding of program design and coding practices.
Skills in developing and writing code for software programs.
Ability to read, understand, troubleshoot, and modify programs.
Ability to read, listen, write, and verbally express self well (in English).
Mathematical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan tasks, organize time, and complete tasks within budget.
Ability to work effectively in a small-team environment.
Ability to learn and understand HVAC control practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Programming, Computer Science, or other related field.
1+ years experience in computer programming using an object-oriented language.
1+ years experience designing, operating, and/or installing HVAC systems and controls.
1+ years experience designing, installing, programming or operating HVAC control systems.
Understanding of commercial construction, HVAC equipment and controls, psychrometric processes, liquid and gas fluid flow, heat transfer and electrical processes.
Ability to read and understand CAD and construction drawings and control specifications.
Strong customer service, project management, and organizational skills.
CEM certification
