The New School is looking for a motivated, customer service oriented Network Engineer who will focus on our enterprise wireless network. You will also provide backup and support for others in the networking group in areas such as routing, switching, and other core networking functions. We ask that you have a hands-on networking background, emphasizing Wi-Fi, routing, and switching.
The Network Engineer will be service oriented and will focus on our enterprise network. This engineer will also provide backup and support for others in the networking group in areas such as routing, switching, and other core networking functions. This position requires an advanced networking background. The successful candidate will have both depth and breadth within the networking field. This position will report to the Director of Integrated Communications Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee, engineer, design, and maintain a complicated enterprise network, including data, voice, and network security.
Manage and provide ongoing operational support and troubleshooting of production networking issues.
Establishes, documents, and maintains standards for wireless and network systems, while also monitoring their performance and status using the latest network automation tools.
Optimize networking infrastructure throughout the campus environment.
Oversee and implement projects, including analysis, design, planning, testing, and implementation.
Provide technical support and training for IT Central, the University service desk.
Provide support for core networking and firewall management and maintenance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related field of study.
Minimum 5 years experience in network engineering in an enterprise environment, including experience with enterprise network security and firewall maintenance.
Strong, enterprise level experience with data networking, including complex routing, switching experience; experience with all aspects of Wi-Fi (802.11) operation and enterprise-level implementation.
In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and networking theory.
Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems.
Self-starter with a strong ownership attitude, with the ability to communicate technical issues effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent documentation skills using tools like Visio, Excel, and Word.
Willingness to work outside of regular hours (weekends, early mornings, evenings) when necessary.
Ability to manage and coordinate with vendors and outside contractors.
Ability to lift, rack, and install equipment, including climbing on ladders and working on raised platforms, and occasionally working outdoors.
Knowledge of optical switching, with experience using DWDM.
Experience and knowledge of Cisco protocols and equipment.
Strong knowledge of networking design and networking theory.
Ability to work on network architecture, technical troubleshooting, and hands-on datacenter tasks, sometimes within the course of just one project.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of enterprise wireless technology.
Experience with network management and monitoring tools, such SolarWinds.
Knowledge of emerging technologies in networking, including IoT, SD-WAN, networking analytics, and cloud computing.
Work with cable plant best practices. Racking, stacking, and installing equipment when necessary.
Strong knowledge of wireless network systems, including: Aruba wireless controllers, ClearPass, AirWave, Aruba TACACS+ and Ubiquiti Wifi.
Firsthand experience with enterprise-level Cisco routing and switching equipment.
Experience with network access control systems at an enterprise level.
Experience with network management and monitoring tools.
A desire to learn or enhance any Firewall skills as a path to grow in this position.Â
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. Requiring proximity to the main campus network. #LI-HYBRID
SALARY RANGE
$110,000 - $120,000
