POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Development Specialist – Major & Planned Giving is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, organizations, private foundations, and business/corporations in major gifts and planned giving fundraising activities for the NWTC Foundation. This role ensures continuous growth in fund development and supports the Executive Director in advancing the Foundation’s mission. The position is instrumental in cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and fostering internal and external partnerships throughout district communities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Fundraising and Stewardship
Provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program, including annual, major, planned, and campaign projects.
Create, nurture, and cultivate relationships with individuals, community organizations, and foundations to achieve annual fundraising and donor engagement goals.
Develop and implement fundraising strategies and a donor communication plan to attract and retain donors.
Serve as the principal gift officer for major and planned giving.
Secure face-to-face meetings with donors and prospects for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Provide outstanding donor stewardship to current and prospective NWTC Foundation supporters.
Implement and maintain a comprehensive planned giving program, including donor engagement strategies and collaboration with estate planning and wealth management professionals.
Oversee implementation of stewardship and recognition for all major donors.
Operational Excellence & Team Collaboration
Maintain accurate and timely record/contact reports of all interaction with donors utilizing fundraising software (Raisers Edge)
Partner with the Foundation, Advancement, and Grants team to develop strategies, annual plans, and objectives.
Contribute to a culture of professionalism, innovation, and shared success within the Foundation and Advancement Team.
Support the development of reports for the Foundation Board, College Board of Trustees, and other key stakeholders.
Represent NWTC at WTCS Foundation Leaders Annual Meetings and other relevant conferences or events.
Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement
Identify and strengthen relationships with College leadership, Corporate Training & Economic Development, Deans, and Advisory Committees to expand donor engagement.
Develop strategies that enhance NWTC’s reputation and influence within the community.
Engage in professional networking and community involvement to increase donor engagement and awareness of NWTC Foundation initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years in fundraising, development, or donor relations, with a strong background in major and planned giving.
Strong written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven success in securing major and planned gifts.
Relationship-building and donor cultivation expertise.
Knowledge of charitable tax laws, estate planning, and legacy giving vehicles.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with leadership, community members, and donors. Knowledge of Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethical conduct and the Donor Bill of Rights. Experience with donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.
