Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The School sits on 40 beautiful and expansive acres in Bethesda, Maryland, less than six miles from Washington, D.C. The Development Services Manager’s key objectives include implementing and maintaining development systems, communicating and reporting on key data, reconciling donations between development and business offices, and supporting all aspects of the Development Team. Essential job functions and responsibilities include:
Systems Thinking and Data Management:
Developing and maintaining efficient systems for data cleansing, data entry, gift processing, prospect research, and relationship management
Maintaining policies and procedures manuals for data entry and ensuring compliance across the development team; training users on proper data input and extraction; providing Raiser’s Edge training and supporting the team
Designing, implementing, and extracting data to analyze giving trends and outcomes for the department
Reports:
Producing with accuracy and excellence constituent and gift reports, mailing lists, mail merges, volunteer data lists, and financial reports, as requested by the Director of Development
Generating reports for the annual audit and regular reconciliation with the Business Office
Producing annual DASL and INDEX reporting
Donor Services Management:
Managing the solicitation schedule; tracking and analyzing results; and communicating progress
Managing donation process by ensuring daily gift entry into Raiser’s Edge per CASE and IRS standard protocols, including transmittal of payments and payment information to the Business Office
Stewardship:
Administering timely stewardship for gifts including receipting and acknowledging gifts
General Development Activity and Team Collaboration:
Assisting all members of the Development Office as needed with support tasks such as name tag production, segmented constituent lists, event follow up, stewardship, administrative tasks, and other projects
Supporting Development and community-building events, which includes working occasional nights and weekends
Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
Fulfilling duties as assigned by the Director of Development
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and database experience are required, fundraising experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have impeccable attention to detail, be a team player, demonstrate an ability to take initiative, work independently as well as collaboratively, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines, as well as multi-task on a regular basis. This person will have the capacity to maintain confidentiality and to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, and have mastery of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, NXT, and Research Point. A willingness to work some nights and weekends is required. A sense of professionalism and humor in dealing with donors, volunteers, and colleagues, as well as demonstrated passion for independent education in general will define the strongest candidate.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000, dependent upon experience. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Work hours are 7:45am to 4:15pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
