JOB SUMMARY UNION NNOC
The Senior Instructor provides specialized consultation in staff development and continuing education for all nursing personnel. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting with the planning and developing of educational programs, orientation of all new staff, teaching classes in area of specialty.
Typical Duties
- Participates in educational needs assessments
- Participates in the assessment of nursing staff competence, identifying the need for education and development programs using a variety of methods
- Uses research findings and principles of evidence-based practice to educational activities and patient care
- Applies knowledge of adult learning theory, learning styles, change theory, cultural and generational diversity in planning programs
- Uses evidence-based strategies to assist learners to develop clinical skills
- Participates in data analyses to enhance educational activities
- Uses information technology skillfully to support the education process
- Assists Nursing Leadership within specialties to evaluate practices and procedures, promoting established standards of care
- Assists in the development and initiation of initiatives to improve patient care and safety.
- Establishes and maintains effective partnerships
- Provides effective and efficient educational activities that positively impact care.
- Representation on organization committees
- Travels to other campuses as needed
- Equipment stewardship and maintenance
- Coordinates and participates in new hire orientation. Develops an orientation that reflects specific need in corrections and addresses nuances
- Instructs and/or teaches Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher-level degree in nursing, healthcare or adult education from an accredited college or university, required. (Must provide proof at time of interview).
- Must possess Two (2) years of recent experience in medical/surgery, critical care, emergency, or pediatrics, required.
- Must be Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois, required.
- Must be able to travel to all CCHHS affiliates and ACHN clinics on an as needed basis, required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to obtain and synthesize data
- Ability to engage adult learners
- Project management skills
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
