Job Summary The Epic Support Specialist shall be responsible for:
Training in one of the department's core Epic applications through Epic's proprietary certification program.
Performing requisite project work and exam preparation leading to certification. Engages in internal department training as necessary to understand unique requirements of the business and related Epic configurations.
After certification and based on guidelines or scoping document provided by a senior staff member, performing builds for basic changes (e.g., update to an existing pick list, PB basic charge review edits, remit code grouper assignment, adding a CPT to the modality list, updating components, etc.). Performing initial unit testing for own work with additional quality review by a senior team member. May assist in the testing/quality assurance of other team members' more routine solutions.
After certification, responding to and triaging support tickets. Troubleshooting and resolving routine maintenance issues - basic "break/fix" requests related to the specific Epic application supported and any associated peripheral devices. Performs this work under the guidance of senior team members.
Performing routine administrative workflow or data entry steps (i.e., non-billable provider entry, e-prescribe number generation, etc.) that are integral to a more complex process. May assist in testing routine upgrades.
Participating in recurring team meetings to learn from current projects and discuss the status of deliverables/assignments, roadblocks, shared issues, end-user concerns, etc. Participating in regular routine communications with Epic representatives, including participating in recurring project team meetings to review outstanding support, request assistance, etc.
Assisting end users on basic navigation and use of the supported application.
In order to qualify you must have:
A minimum of high school diploma and work experience, internships or training that demonstrate customer service, use of an administrative or operationally based application/software
Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy while working regularly with data
Experience as a super-user of an Electronic Health Records system generally, if not Epic specifically would be preferred
Epic certification in 1st CORE application specific to the role/department is to be obtained within one year of entry into the role.
