Responsible for the administration of network and system infrastructure. Includes monitoring, moves, adds, changes, incident and service request resolution of the university network and system infrastructure. Serve as an escalation point for Network Operations Center (NOC) staff, software and hardware maintenance, and repair.
This job is a 3rd shift position; Sunday night to Thursday night; hours are 11 pm-7:30 am.
Configures and provision server components (physical/virtual server and software).
Repairs/replaces failed network and system, fiber or connectivity issue.
Troubleshoots and resolves network and system incidents.
Provides off hour support on a rotating schedule.
Performs change management of system and network infrastructure during maintenance windows.
Monitors networks and systems.
Accesses networks and systems to identify and resolve incidents.
Takes initiative to make and/or suggest improvements or innovations.
Maintains and updates monitoring infrastructure and automation tools.
Handles infrastructure and system alerts, appropriate action to classify, prioritize and resolve complex network and system issues.
Effective communication of incident status and technical issues to stakeholders.
Collaborates with IT staff for requirement gathering, cross-functional tasks and incidents.
Responds to customer service requests in a helpful, professional manner.
Proficient with service management tool ServiceNow to document request and incidents received via a phone and email.
Properly routes requests/incidents, tracks progress and documents resolution.
Communicates project/issue status with customers and stakeholders.
Suggests design and audit changes to appropriate teams and updates documentation.
Identifies, labels and reports on installed infrastructure.
Maintains and updates network and system drawings in service management.
Makes approved changes through proper change management procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
