Facilities and Operations (F&O) is seeking an experienced BIM Database Administrator. The successful candidate will be assisting with a major initiative to transition Microstation and AutoCAD to Revit 3D Building Information Models (BIM). The incumbent will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain the BIM data life cycle from ingestion to a variety of partner end points.
The BIM Database Administrator is responsible for the management, administration, and maintenance of Building Information Modeling (BIM) data and software systems used by F&O. The role includes ensuring that the BIM databases are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to all relevant stakeholders. The BIM Database Administrator will work closely with F&O departments to provide support and ensure seamless data exchange.
Ensure BIM data is organized and standardized to facilitate easy access and efficient sharing across departments
Develop and implement BIM workflows and protocols, ensuring that they align with standards and policies
Develop and maintain BIM databases to ensure it accurately reflects project requirements, standards, and objectives
Create, manage, and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls for the BIM database and software systems
Work with project managers and BIM team members to coordinate and execute BIM activities and deliverables, including data exchange and collaboration with external partners
Stay up-to-date with the latest BIM technology trends, industry standards, and software updates, and make recommendations for improvements to the BIM database
This position may work with and/or support systems that maintain or process sensitive institutional data as defined by university policy. Successful candidates must comply with federal, state, and local law, and/or university policies or agreements that require the university to implement specific privacy and security safeguards, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, HIPAA, and FISMA.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in BIM data management or related field
Strong technical skills, including proficiency in BIM software systems (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM360, Civil 3D)
Strong technical skills in data management tools (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, ETL Tools such as Safe Software FME, Informatica, Pentaho Data Integrator)
Knowledge of BIM workflows and protocols, including experience with BIM execution plans (BEP) and project information models (PIM)
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues quickly
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to efficiently travel around and between campuses.
Knowledge of programming languages, such as Dynamo, Python or C# for the purposes of generating schedules and extracting data from Revit models
Knowledge of Bluebeam, Plangrid and Esri products
Training in Lean concepts
Background and experience in technical writing
