We improve the student experience by working with Student Life and campus partners to provide creative technology solutions. Student Life Technology Solutions has a focus on developing relationships with Student Life units, understanding the units' work, and providing tailored solutions while looking for economies of scale where it makes sense. Teams include Operations and Infrastructure, Web and Applications, Project Management Office, and Business Intelligence. We support remote work, and you will work from campus when needed.
You Will:
Report to the Web and Applications Manager and help bring Student Life data alive by connecting and integrating data from cloud and on-premise enterprise systems to support leadership's data-informed decisions and to enhance the student experience. You will mentor other staff and help integrate systems through APIs and develop user-friendly interfaces and applications where needed. You will be part of our team working to bridge the systems of today with future solutions as part of our data, cloud, and mobile-first strategy, bringing application development and data integration experience that enhances our DevOps approach. You will use deep technical and procedural knowledge to investigate and fix problems. You will demonstrate and practice consultation skills to help our department partners to implement and adopt solutions that make the best use of available shared services, on-premise and hosted systems, and develop tools to support their goals, and mentor other team members in doing the same. You will seek opportunities to improve processes, applications, and integrations with our team. Some characteristic responsibilities include:
Develop and support user-friendly interfaces, APIs, and web and mobile applications.
Develop websites and applications using a variety of technologies to improve the usability and features of our solutions and promote accessibility and a User-Centered Design philosophy within our organization.
Create and connect the interfaces between major systems and programs, using API methods and Extract Transform Load tools.
Help support legacy code, applications, APIs and interfaces (with an eye to sunsetting or replacing them with modern solutions).
Analyze workflows, data collection processes, regulatory and reporting requirements, to translate requirements into data/technical specifications.
5 or more years of systems analysis/programming experience, or equivalent combination of training.
5 or more years experience developing and deploying scalable web or mobile applications using an object-oriented programming language or MVC web application framework.
Experience developing in one or more languages or mobile frameworks such as PHP, JavaScript (JQuery, React, Vue, Ionic, Angular, or Symfony), Python, or Java/J2EE.
Experience with the following JSON, XML, Shell Script, HTML, AJAX, or ASP.
Experience with relational (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, or similar) or NoSQL databases.
Experience with APIs such as REST APIs, or Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP).
