General Summary: The Cybersecurity, EDP Systems Analyst II is a highly technical position, responsible for monitoring, maintenance and upgrades of the NetLab system and its dependent underlying technologies including VMware vSphere and ESXi; as well as the physical and logical cabling for both server room infrastructure and Cisco networking labs. This position provides technology support for specialized applications which includes review, setup, tests, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software for STEM related disciplines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a first point of contact for CyberSecurity faculty to implement and troubleshoot equipment pods utilized in cybersecurity courses
- Serves as the contact for incident escalation to MCC Technology Center staff as needed, as well as the primary support contact for vendors and stakeholders for all deployed server room technology as well as technology concerns in the CAD/Engineering labs
- May work with student interns as applicable
- Oversee and support Hy-Flex and Smart Classroom hardware and software technology on campus, including on demand classroom support
- Responsible for software maintenance and upgrades for NetLab, vCenter, ESXi Hosts, Windows Server, Linux, etc.
- Responsible for hardware maintenance and upgrades for NetLab Appliance, Lenovo R630 Servers, Uninterruptable Power Supply, NetGear NAS device, Cisco switches, Cisco Access Servers, power distribution units, KVM switch, single board computers, classroom desktop computers for cybersecurity and faculty laptops, desktops and mobile devices.
- Responsible for network configuration
- Development and implementation of cybersecurity courseware through the NetLab appliance
- Act as a liaison between MCC and various technology support vendors
- Development of OS images with application integrations to support CAD programs (program installations, updates, and upgrades including client applications and server based licensing). This may entail collaboration with UML staff for development of the CAD virtual desktop image
- Support the CAD/Engineering departments 3D printers and other technological needs
- Evaluate, research, and determine best suitable devices for Cybersecurity Lab
- Create instructional materials for students and faculty as well as training faculty on how to use certain technological devices or software.
Job Requirements:- Two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in computer support/systems work, community college preferred. An Associate or higher degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Other education in a related field may be substituted for some experience on a pro rata basis.
- Strong background in customer support and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of the types, concepts and applications of IBM compatible and Macintosh computers, laptops and tablets.
- Knowledge of the types, concepts and applications of telephone, computer and network wiring.
- Ability to install software packages and OS.
- Knowledge of terminology, codes and standard abbreviations used with computers, networks and telephone systems.
- Ability to learn and implement the latest technology.
- Ability to adjust to changing situations to meet emergencies or changing program or production requirements
- Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Additional Information:This is a full-time, benefitted, AFSCME, Unit I, position.
