The Water Analyst for Building Systems Maintenance will manage, execute, and provide functional expertise on water treatment for the University's buildings. This includes but is not limited to developing and proposing program-wide operational and equipment plans and designs for conditioned and pure water systems, and planning, designing, recommending, executing chemistry programs and/or installing water treatment equipment such as reverse osmosis, deionized water, and soft water systems. The Water Analyst will manage the day-to-day operations of water treatment and quality and be responsible for verifying compliance and conformance such as identifying, diagnosing, predicting, and correcting program and system deficiencies and failures, completing routine and preventive maintenance and calibration of water treatment systems and chemical feed controls, developing and implementing various procedures, logs, worksheets, and logs for water and water treatment systems, and assisting in the administration of the backflow testing treatment program. Urgent situations occasionally require after-hours work. This may include emergency situations, coverage of shifts, or other operational needs, either on short notice or with advance notice.

Bachelor's or equivalent education/experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or other related technical discipline. Three years experience of water treatment that includes installing, inspecting, diagnosing, and/or servicing water softeners, domestic, and pure water systems, maintaining and/or troubleshooting reverse osmosis and distilled water. Three years experience in water treatment testing techniques, analysis, diagnostics, and successful remediation. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to efficiently allocate resources to achieve thoroughness and accuracy to accomplish tasks. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work and move around machinery and electricity. Ability to learn and act on new technical and/or complex information quickly. Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify issues, alternative solutions, conclusions, and/or approaches to problems. Skilled utilizing technology. Good record keeping, time management, and organizational skills. Good communication skills. Knowledgeable of general safety and hazardous material management practices for industrial water treatment chemicals. Knowledgeable in maintaining a financial budget. Available by cell phone to assist with campus emergencies. Available after-hours and on-call. Valid driver's license and eligible to operate University vehicles.

Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or other related technical discipline. Five plus years experience performing or developing preventive maintenance services and/or schedules. Five plus years experience interpreting diagnostic information related to proactive maintenance programs. Experience managing campus-level regulatory plumbing activities including backflow and other similar specialized systems. Proven leadership experience in the plumbing field as superintendent and manager of projects. Proven exceptional organizational skills. Knowledgeable of plumbing codes. Journeyman plumber. Water Operator/Grade 6 is preferred.
