Job Description: The Office of Strategic Analytics and Institutional Research seeks a Research Analyst to join our team. The Office aims to support the advancement of Clark's mission through generating data-based insights to inform institutional planning and decision-making.
Working closely with colleagues, the candidate will manage applied research projects, from data collection to data cleaning and develop high-quality, actionable reports based on careful analysis. The research analyst will support reporting to internal external constituencies and development of data dashboards. Collaborating with colleagues, the Analyst uses data efficiently, accurately, and effectively to inform decisions.
The Analyst works collaboratively with colleagues to:
- Develop, implement, and manage research projects. The analyst will help craft, implement, and manage surveys on an annual and ad hoc basis to support University assessment efforts.
- Analyze data and present results. Drawing upon intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of statistics, the analyst will conduct thoughtful analyses and generate reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate complex results clearly and effectively.
- Support Strategic Analytics office reporting efforts. Throughout the year, the analyst will help gather and report data accurately and efficiently according to University definitions to internal or external constituencies, including responding to ad hoc requests.
- Data management. The Analyst assists with the development and maintenance of longitudinal merged datasets that are used for reporting and analysis purposes. Developing and maintaining scripts and documentation are important parts of the analyst's job.
Job Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, sciences, social sciences or math or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in data analysis, including the management of medium to large data sets. Demonstrated knowledge of statistical techniques, research methodology, data analysis, and interpretation of results. This includes intermediate/advanced proficiency with statistics packages (e.g., SPSS, r, python) and other software to manage, organize, and present data (e.g., Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience writing and developing findings
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with strong follow-through and ability to meet deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work productively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail; able to adapt with changing priorities
Preferred:
- Strong knowledge of research and assessment. Experience with qualitative and quantitative methodologies, such as conducting interviews or focus groups, administering surveys, and experience generating models using data science.
- Intermediate-to-advanced Tableau skills.
- Strong collaboration skills. Ability to collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds and experience with research.
- Knowledge of institutional research practices. Interest and curiosity about student success in higher education.
