The UC Irvine Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its 250+ faculty and clinician members and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients.
Your Role on the Team
Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external.
The Finance Analyst reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and provides financial and analytical support for assigned areas within the UCI Irvine Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. The incumbent applies financial concepts, gathers data and performs financial and resource analysis, implements budget allocations, and ensures internal controls, and summarizes and prepares reports and recommendations. Responsibilities also include monitoring of accounts, processing of financial documents, and maintaining records across a variety of fund sources and operational areas. Works directly with Assistant Director of Finance to prioritize needs related to Center's fiscal operations.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
High level of integrity and honesty and ability to maintain confidentiality in all operations and transactions
Strong attention to detail
Ability to make sound decisions and employ effective problem-solving techniques and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
Preferred:
Working knowledge of UCI PAL CARD requirements
Experience working in multidisciplinary matrixed work environment
Prior experience working in University or academic environment
Knowledge of University of California accounting system
Knowledge of University of California policies and procedures
Special Conditions:
Ability to travel to the Orange campus, Irvine campus and off-site locations for meetings/event as needed and required.
