The Pratt Institute Libraries seek a hands-on and forward-thinking leader to join our Access Services team as the Visual & Multimedia Resources Manager. Reporting to the Libraries' Associate Director for Access Services, the Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Visual & Multimedia Resources (VMR) team, responsible for providing our academic community access to equipment and media collections.
From two busy service desks in the main Brooklyn campus library, Visual and Multimedia Resources circulates DVDs, 16mm films, audiovisual equipment, and the Libraries' new game collection. The Manager will lead efforts to promote department collections and services and will play a key role in discussions of library-wide technology in collaboration with the Libraries' technology staff and the Institute's IT division. The Manager is responsible for supervising and mentoring library staff and student employees who are committed to providing a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive environment for all library visitors.
The Pratt Institute Libraries support the research and education of approximately 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students across campuses in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The Libraries provide research support to students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars pursuing teaching and learning in areas of art, design, architecture, information studies, writing, and other fields of academic inquiry and creative work.

Examples of Duties
Management & Administration:
Manage operations of Visual & Multimedia Resources (VMR) unit of the Access Services department
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Media Circulation and Equipment Loan desks, ensuring excellent customer service and fostering an environment welcoming to all
Supervise and train one administrator, one staff technician, and a group of student assistants
Work closely with the Associate Director for Access Services, Evening & Weekend Library Manager, and the Manhattan Access Services Manager to maintain consistent and quality services across the department
Set policies and procedures associated with VMR collections and services
Manage budgets for VMR collections and student employment
Compile and report statistics on usage of collections and services
Participate in library-wide committees and task forces
Collections & Technology:
Oversee operations of service stations, smart technologies, and two library classrooms, ensure that the facilities and equipment are well-kept and functioning properly
Collaborate with Campus Event Services to maintain and schedule the use of the Libraries' community event space
Collaborate with the Libraries' Technology staff and Institute IT to support library-wide technology initiatives
Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in multimedia resources and recommend acquisitions and upgrades
Outreach & Education:
Develop outreach initiatives to raise awareness of the library's media and equipment collections, educate patrons on available technologies, and be responsive to community needs
Conduct user surveys and utilize data to develop collections and services
Collaborate with the Media Collections Coordinator to ensure accuracy of website information and to manage public resource guides
Participate in library-wide outreach initiatives, including orientations, tours, exhibits, and social media
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required. MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited program preferred. Experience:Two-three years working in libraries or higher education, supervisory experience. Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of audiovisual equipment, working knowledge of computer systems and applications
Working knowledge of legacy media and digitization practices
Demonstrated knowledge of equipment loan operations
