About the Role
Boston University's Center for Career Development (CCD) seeks a Career Counselor. A member of the Career Education team at the Center for Career Development, the Career Counselor supports the career development of undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni through individual appointments and program delivery.
The Career Counselor works closely with the CCD's Career Education team, as well as other members of the CCD team. This role also develops and maintains relationships with assigned campus partners, including academic departments and other student-facing offices. This role reports to the Associate Director of the CCD.
The Career Counselor's primary duties include:
- Providing generalist career counseling to students and alumni and for specific populations as assigned on all topics, including: self-discovery, career exploration, career skill building, internship/job search, and graduate school applications;
- Engaging in the process of career development, including: administering and interpreting career inventories;
- Helping to staff resume and cover letter review hours, and;
- Facilitating career workshops, programs, and events, both offered at the CCD and in collaboration with campus partners.

A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. We are seeking a candidate who:
- Has 3-5 years of experience working with college-aged individuals;
- Has experience in career counseling or coaching;
- Has experience with program delivery and development or teaching;
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrates the ability to build rapport with a diverse group of constituents (for example students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, colleagues, etc.);
- Is organized, and;
- Shows strong attention to detail.
A Master's degree in counseling or a related field is preferred, but not required for consideration.
Final candidates will be expected to deliver a presentation as a component of the interview process.
