Brownâ™s Internal Consulting Group (ICG) is a project focused team that partners cross-functionally within the Finance Division and across the University to plan and execute financial, operational and strategic projects, creating less reliance on University staff and external consultants. ICG provides expertise in financial modeling, financial planning and analysis, cost analysis, project coordination and management, sponsored research budgeting, and process improvement.
The Business Analyst is a member of the Internal Consulting Group within the Finance and Administrative Services team. As a vital contributor to the Finance Division, this role will work closely with other members of the ICG team to support Finance Division leadership (Office of Financial Strategy and Planning, Controllerâ™s Office, Treasury & Insurance, Financial Services) with ad hoc and special projects to enhance multiple business and financial solutions critical to the success of the Universityâ™s financial operations goals. These functions provide a platform for many key financial planning and reporting activities, including operational budgeting and forecasting, interim reporting, multi-year financial planning, tuition/enrollment/financial aid planning, internal cash flow reporting, capital planning, F&A base rate calculations, and tax-exempt bond compliance.
The Business Analyst is expected to foster strong relationships with ICG project partners to identify opportunities for functional solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and financial operations. The position assists ICG and financial leadership in transitioning strategic projects into an operational status and provides analysis support for emerging strategic project
Major Responsibility:Â Â Project Operationalization and Transition 40%
Supporting Actions:
Primarily responsible for the refresh and reconciliation process for ICG generated files that have been incorporated into standard operational processes;
Documenting current processes into standard operating procedures; and
Working with project partners to transition files, processes, and appropriate reconciliations to business process owners
Major Responsibility: Support system testing and development for current and new operational systems 30%
Supporting Actions:
Assist in the evaluation of current systems, processes, and reporting;
Working with ICG team and larger finance team to evaluate best practices and
Support project teams in the development, testing, and roll-out of new systems and processes  Â
Major Responsibility: Provide support to ICG leadership for emerging strategic projects 20%

Support the team on emerging strategic projects identified by senior and finance leadership, including
Performing initial data collection and analysis
Engaging in process mapping and review;
Gathering feedback and prioritizing requirements
Building preliminary, draft models and mock-ups

Gathering project requirements; drafting preliminary timelines and scope; tracking project progress and achievements; documenting key action items and responsible parties.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 1-3 years relevant work experience required
