Athletic Development Officer
The Athletic Development Officer reports to the Senior Director of Athletic Development and is responsible for tier one major gift solicitations, cultivation of new and assigned prospects, stewardship and events that will engage donors. Additionally, the ADO will oversee and manage athletic development events (listed below). This position is accountable for creating opportunities to support Athletic Department priorities, specific athletic programs and facility needs.
Identify, prioritize, cultivate and solicit current and new major gift prospects for Athletics; Manage a portfolio of approximately 50 prospects (i.e., Red White Club members) at tier one or $1000 or more gifts to Athletics
Assist in increasing donor commitment levels from tier one to multiyear and/or higher giving tiers
Work autonomously and asideSenior Director of Athletic Development or other Development Officersto solicit major gifts
Partners closely with the entire Athletics Development Team and members of the Office of Athletics.
Supports the preparation of written proposals, information materials, endowment agreements, etc. to secure gifts.
Participates in the long-range planning of the Athletics Development Office.
Establishes and maintains strong positive working relationships with liaisons in partnering departments, (i.e., facilities, athletics office representatives, tickets office, etc.)
Coordinate the annual direct mail solicitations for the Athletics Development Office.
Coordinate the planning and execution of all Athletic Development fundraising special events including Red White Club and Champion Partners receptions.
Accountable for event communications process from draft to creative and finalization phases to marketing for strong event attendance. Track ROI of event attendance.
Performs department operational support duties as assigned.
Responsible for coordinating logistics for promotional experiences auctioned at events.
Serve as point person for event logistics whether on campus or offsite.
Strong writing and communication skills, ability to organize and inspire volunteers
This position operates in a professional office environment; This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to10 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is full-time and the expected hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours, evenings, weekend work and some holidays.
Travel is required approximately 20% of the time and ranges from local to national travel mainly throughout the Big East conference, including overnight stays.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required.
3-5 years of related experience
1-2 years successful event management experience.
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365
Experience managing chat threads in real time for virtual presentations and meetings
Verbal communication skills
Ability to present to a group with ease.
Keen organizational skills
