Position Summary Are you a highly organized professional who enjoys managing details, supporting complex operations, and keeping an office running smoothly? The Resource Management Department Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the administrative, financial, and operational needs of the Resource Management department within the Fowler College of Business.
This position offers meaningful responsibility, professional autonomy, and the opportunity to work closely with leadership while supporting faculty, staff, and university operations.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Coordination & Office Operations: Coordinate and administer a wide range of administrative and operational functions, including faculty compensation processes, student employment programs, and college-wide services, while managing multiple priorities and ensuring timely and accurate completion of work.
Financial Tracking, Reconciliation & Budget Support: Perform financial tracking and reconciliation activities, including payroll and program expenditures, while maintaining accurate records, preparing budget transfers, and ensuring proper use of funds in accordance with established guidelines.
Policy Interpretation & Procedural Compliance: Interpret and apply university policies and procedures related to payroll, procurement, and administrative processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and consistency across transactions and documentation.
Data Management, Recordkeeping & Reporting: Maintain and manage electronic records and data systems, compile and track financial and operational information, and prepare reports to support administrative decision-making and organizational needs.
Communication & Work Coordination: Serve as a central point of contact to coordinate workflows, communicate procedures, and collaborate with departments, faculty, staff, and external partners to support administrative operations.
Procurement & Administrative Support Functions: Support procurement and general office operations, including processing purchases, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with vendors to ensure effective delivery of services and resources.

Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego after a 6 month training period.
Department Summary The Fowler College of Business (FCB) consists of one school and four academic departments (Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, Finance, Management Information Systems, Management, and Marketing), a Dean, an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, an Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives, an Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, a College Operations Manager/Director of Resource Management, a Director of Marketing & Communications, a Director for Graduate Programs, a Director for Undergraduate Programs, a Director for the Career Management Center, a Director for Assessment, and a Managing Director for the Wendy Gillespie Center for Advancing Global Business.
The Fowler College of Business offers a variety of programs, including an undergraduate and graduate degree in business administration and specialized master's degree programs. The college also houses several centers: the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center, the Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate, the Wendy Gillespie Center for Advancing Global Business, the Corporate Governance Institute, the Institute for Inclusion and Diversity, the Center for Integrated Marketing Communication, the James Silberrad Brown Center for Artificial Intelligence and the Aztec Consulting Center, which are critical for the implementation of its strategic plan.
The Fowler College of Business has over 200 full and part-time academic employees and more than 45 clerical and technical employees.
FCB is an instructional division of San Diego State University, administered by the Dean. The Dean's Office is responsible for the creation, implementation, and continued support of the instructional, research, and development processes in the College.

Education and Experience Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence and standard reports and thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel spreadsheet creation and data manipulation, as well as Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Clerical, administrative, and financial experience, including working knowledge of budget policies and procedures
Ability to perform standard business math, including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections.
Thorough knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, procedures, and office systems, with the ability to independently apply policies where specific guidelines may not exist.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects independently and be fully functional in all technical aspects of assigned work.
Ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including higher-level stakeholders and sensitive or confidential matters.
Experience building and maintaining effective vendor relationships, with a strong focus on customer service and collaboration.
Proficiency with PeopleSoft, Oracle, Adaptive, and OnBase is preferred.

Compensation: Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.
Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367).
Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
